Nice things

I just got back from the hospital with mom again, and have been browsing through everyone's blogs and seeing all the wonderful things everyone has been up to! Sooooo many things I want to try, so many nice new creations and new designs people are venturing into!

I didn't take tatting to the hospital this time, but I did take some crochet and a tiny hook, and have started a nice little doily.  I have several more rounds to go, but I will post pics when done.  I did get my "Angels in the Snow" done, but haven't taken the pics yet.

I am tired, and and feeling drained, and my mom is still there... had to give consent for another procedure today over the phone, such a long drive back and forth.  I really am having a hard time spending the last 3 months doing the 4 hour drive back and forth but I feel so guilty when I decide to stay home or come home for a few days rest... I just don't sleep well in the hospital.  in the last 3 months I have spent literally about 4 weeks at home.

I do have some sewing I want to do while I am home, I have a skirt pattern I want to work on, it is really pretty, I have one skirt already and it really fits nicely, and would like to make atleast 3 more skirts like it, in diff colors.  they come down to middle of my shin and I can wear any type of shirt with them, ecen a blouse, so that is really good for me, I like to wear skirts all year long, and diff shirts need to go with any skirt.

Well everyone keep up on the beautiful work, it truly is inspiring to me, and I can't wait to see the talented and beautiful things you all come up with next!  I used to think the TIAS was a llama, but now I really have no idea, lol, I have gotten too far behind in it, not sure if I will catch up or not.
but it is still fun trying to see what it is going to turn out to be, lol
Happy tatting and keep up the wonderful work everyone!

  2. I third the emotion, Bree!

So glad to see you online, even if for only a few moments.

Don't feel guilty to go home for some rest. If you can't get enough rest, you won't have sufficient energy to be able to be with your mom as much as you do. So think of it as being able to help her more, or better.

  3. There is absolutely no need to feel guilty about going home when you need to. One of my favorite professors used to use the speech they give you on airplanes as an analogy for what caregivers need to do: Secure your own oxygen mask before attempting to help others! In other words, you can't take care of your mom until you take care of yourself.

Having said that, I know that the guilt will always be there. My mom was admitted to the hospital this morning, and I feel guilty that I haven't hopped on the first flight to see her, even though she has expressly told me not to, and she's not that sick.

Is your mom by any chance at UNM Hospital? (You don't have to publish this comment if you'd rather not say publicly; it's up to you). If so, I'd be happy to look in on her for you since I work there, and bring her anything you think she might need.

  4. TY all of you for your support :) I am sorry to hear about your mom Miranda, I hope it isn't anything serious, and my warmest thoughts will be with you also, and no, she isn't in UNM, she is over in Covenant in TX, and the other family member that got sick, from this ordeal is down in Roswell, so a lot of driving back and forth.
Thank you for the offer to look in on her if she were there though :)

and thank you each and every one of you for your warmest wishes, it really does make me feel good and puts a smile on my face :)
