Inspired part 2, batteries in my camera!

Alright, I have batteries in my camera, Thank you Hubbie :X

Here the the little snowflakes on buttons I was inspired to make from watching all the little button tattings made by Rachel at The Piney Woods.   I so love watching what she is going to create, you never know what you are going to get but you can always count on it being beautiful!

Again, mine aren't the same as hers, and they are a simple little pattern, I just threw rings and chain counts together that fit on my buttons, if I have larger buttons I will adjust for the diameter of the button... but I love love love these :)   My hubbie says these are his favorite of all the little snowflakes so far!     These tat up in about half hour, and I am not a fast tatter, so I really like them too :)

These are all made with Lizbeth thread, white, red and ecru, size 20.

and here is a bookmark with one of Jess' colors that she sent me!

Well, I am off to make more little snowflakes! I am going to make white flakes with red and green buttons in the middle, and I am going to make white buttons with white, red and green thread!

Happy Tatting, Bri!

    1. Thank you! they tat up so quickly, and I am on my way into town to get some green and red buttons :D hubbie wants a few more of these on the tree this year, lol. The bookmark was just a made up pattern, it started out to be a stumpy that I messed up, lol, but the thread is one frm Jess that I can't remember the color name of, but it is the salmon colors, it is one of my favorites!

    1. Oh, thank you so much Fox!! I have been working on making them much neater, I have slowed down the speed of my tatting and have been concentrating on stitch size and tension when pulling my chains, I have a bookmark I need to post, (hubbie still has it in the car ) lol, and it jsut turned out really beautiful. I think it has made a HUGE difference in the quality of my stitching. I do find these snowflakes still a little sloppy, but they are still much improved. Ty again :)

    1. Dziękuję bardzo. Kupiłem kilka zielone, białe i czerwone przyciski, aby więcej. Mój mąż mówi, to jego ulubiony wszystkich śniegu niewiele już dokonanych do tej pory, a on nie może się doczekać, aby zobaczyć kilka na drzewie w tym roku :)

  4. I love your button snowflakes! Isn't it funny... I have more buttons than I can use in a lifetime, yet I insist on buying metal doodads for the centers. I think I have a hard time getting the math going in my mind to get a snowflake shape with buttons. I guess I'm going to have to be brave and try tatting with buttons! ;-)

    1. Ty Diane :) I have collected so many but/tons over the years, but they are from old pants and old shirts, so most of them look the same, lol, hubbie took me out to lunch today and I got some pretty red and green buttons to make white snowflakes around :D
My suggestion for the spacing would be, use a button the same size as a doodad and pretend there is a hole every other base ring, so use an even number, say your (on my red one) 6 p 4 p 6, then the one that attaches to the button itself it is 6 p 2 long p 2 p 6... I just played with the stuff until I found stitch counts that fit, for 9/16ths or 14mm buttons, use 6p6p6, for slightly smaller buttons, use the 6p4p6, if you go bigger, just play with it and see how it goes from there, if you find wooden beads, use your dremmel and make 6 hole buttons out of 2 hole buttons :D

  5. the size on my red snowflake , the button is slightly smaller than 9/16, or 14 mm, I think it is a 12 mm, which is a regular shirt button over here in usa, and the stitch count I used was the inner rings are 6 p 4 p 6 , or the rings attaching to button are 6 p 2 long p 2 p 6, chain = 4p4 small ring = 3p2p2p3 chain 4p4 and back to ring again...

just play with number of ds on rings for larger buttons, and if you increase the number of ds on rings, increase the number of ds on your chains :)

  7. Batteries do help don't they!! I love the look of Tatting. Different than crochet but very delicate as well. I've never learned to Tat. But I have made many crocheted snowflake ornaments and garlands. Your's look just beautiful Bree. They would make a lovely mantle garland. Love Di ♥

  8. ooooo - what charming snowflakes. I never met a button I didn't like, and your snowflakes are terrific around the buttons. I will have to try this one day!

Enjoy creating with red and green buttons - glad your DH enjoys them, too.
